Our participation in international projects

Naturland and its organisations promote organic farming worldwide. In addition to "classic" organic association work such as certification, information and networking, Naturland is also involved in many international projects in the fields of development cooperation as well as research and network building.

Projects offer opportunities to implement individual topics in the field of innovations, education and sustainability more intensively. This gives our members even greater added value, for example through access to relevant research results and the formation of networks. In addition, projects offer an opportunity to strengthen organic agriculture and its actors worldwide and to raise awareness among consumers.

Job Partnership with Rwanda

The project helps to improve the livelihood of Rwandan coffee farmers and to promote new employment opportunities through organic agroforestry coffee systems.

KVP Vietnam (Phase 2)

The aim of the project is to strengthen the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association as the umbrella organisation for organic agriculture in Vietnam.

Burundi: Improvement of existing agroforestry systems in coffee farms

The aim of this project is to improve existing agroforestry activities among coffee farmers in Burundi and to expand these activities to new target groups.

Georgia Organic - Farming for the Future

This project promotes the development and stabilisation of employment in rural Georgia. Additionally, it strengthens local environmental protection and resource conservation.

"Partner Afrika" Project (PAP) Rwanda

The objective of this project is to scale up the organic agricultural sector in Rwanda by strengthening the umbrella organization ROAM (Rwanda Organic Agriculture Movement).

Italy & Germany: Being Organic in EU

More awareness of the benefits of organic farming, more trust in organic food: As part of the EU project "BEING ORGANIC in EU", Naturland is committed to these goals together with FederBio, the organic umbrella organization in Italy.

Vietnam: Trust EOP

This project addresses Vietnamese consumers to raise awareness for the merits of organic food and the high quality standards of organic food produced in compliance with EU organic regulations.

Serbia & Slovenia: Carbon balances

The aim of this collaborative project with the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (KIS) and the Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Crops Serbia (IFVC) is to improve the humus balance and carbon storage capacity of soil.

Rwanda: supporting organic coffee production

The goal of the project is to promote skills development, organizational capacity building and adoption of best practices of Rwandan organic coffee farmers and strengthen their position in the organic value chain.

Philippines: Supporting smallholders

The aim of this project is to actively improve the living conditions of smallholders in the Philippines.

Uganda: Strengthening organic structures

The aim of this project is to strengthen farming organisations within the coffee sector. The main focal areas of this project are to further develop organisations and address specific practical issues.

Burundi: Organic coffee production

Naturland supports the provision of conversion advice to enable coffee cultivation to be moved away from monoculture towards sustainable, diverse mixed cropping in agroforestry systems with fruit or timber trees.

Peru: Organic coffee without pesticide contamination

During training workshops in coffee cooperatives, the risks at various stages of the value chain are analysed together with those responsible for the cultivation, purchase, processing and marketing of organic coffee.

Sustainable aquaculture in mangrove forests

The aim of the project is to promote sustainable aquaculture systems with a focus on mangrove protection and the improvement of local living conditions, both in the producing countries and along the international value chains.

Innovation for smallholders

The objective of this cooperation with seven Green Innovation Centres is to increase the productivity of smallholder farms in Africa and India in an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable way through improved access to knowledge and innovation in organic agriculture.

Organic in Morocco

Naturland supports the Moroccan organic association FIMABIO in further developing the organic sector in Morocco and thus creating new employment opportunities in the North African country.

Vietnam: Strengthening Organic Agriculture

The aim of the project is to strengthen the Vietnam Organic Agricultural Association as the umbrella organisation for organic agriculture.

Research & network

CANALLS

This collaborative project aims to improve agroecological practices in the humid tropics of Central and Eastern Africa. Naturland supports the acquisition and dissemination of agroecological knowledge, with a special focus on Burundi.

OekoTier

The joint project OeKoTier aims to develop a transparent and practical testing concept for animal welfare monitoring on organic farms.

FER-PLAY

The aim of FER-PLAY is to reduce the environmental impact of European agriculture by using alternative fertilisers made from secondary raw materials.

Organic Targets 4 EU

Joining forces with the EU for organic farming: OrganicTargets4EU develops scenarios for achieving the organic expansion target.

LIVING INCOME

The aim of Living Income is to examine family household situations and to search for strategies for action to close the gap between real household income and a living wage for the family.

BEATLES

The EU project BEATLES aims at systemic and systematic behavioural changes towards climate-friendly agriculture and smart agricultural technologies.

mEATQuality

The aim of mEATQuality is to provide consumers with high-quality pork and broiler meat.

MERLIN

The MERLIN project analyses the social, economic and environmental success factors of 17 case studies.

FutureEUAqua

The aim is to promote the sustainable growth of climate-change-resilient, environmentally friendly aquaculture in Europe. This is due to the growing consumer demand for good quality, responsibly produced food from aquaculture.

Ecobreed

24 partner organisations from 15 countries develop methods, strategies and infrastructure for organic plant breeding. Their aim is to develop high-quality varieties with improved stress resistance.

Nefertiti

In this project, Naturland’s role is to manage the "Nutrient efficiency in horticulture" and "Shaping agriculture: Innovative ways to success" subgroups. The aim is to develop new ideas for sustainable farm concepts.

Relacs

RELACS promotes the development and implementation of cost-effective and environmentally friendly tools and technologies to reduce the use of copper in crop protection, identify sustainable sources of nutrients for crop nutrition and provide solutions to support animal welfare.

Biofruitnet

The project collects and summarises existing knowledge on organic fruit production in Europe, presents best practice examples in a comprehensible way and creates a stable European network.
